Scandinavia Pics!

We've finally finished going through our pics and organizing them. Mike has posted the albums on our website. Here are a few highlights:

Honorable Mentions: The Little Mermaid in Copenhagen, Gamla Stan (old town) in Stockholm, The famous Turning Torso in Malmo, and a pic from Skansen.

Copenhagen. Here are pics of Nyhaven, (downtown neighborhood on the harbor where we stayed, also home to Hans Christian Anderson; he wrote his first fairly tales here. The white house 2nd from right was his), the viking town of Roskilde, and Frederiksborg Castle.

Stockholm!
My favorite. I think Mike should get a job at the US Embassy there. Here is a view of the harbor from the Grand Hotel, a rare view of the Queen's mounted guard, who are only in the city during the summer, and another view of the city from beside the royal palace.

Tivoli - Europe's Disney Land but in their own style...beautiful gardens, orchestras, jazz bands, ballets, plays, great rides, candy and ice cream around every corner, and fun shops and restaurants.

The Swedish countryside - Tjoloholm Castle, Veberod where some of my ancestors lived on farms, and Drottningholm Palace, the permanent residence of the Swedish royal family. (This picture is taken from the expansive grounds, here, we are standing in a secret garden of shoulder height mazes).

Odds and Ends: Here's our rental car (by the way, gas was about $9/gallon...$3.50 in Vegas doesn't seem so bad anymore), a delicious dinner of reindeer with lignonberries, and royal grafitti scratched into the cathedral's glass windows by some royal child, while bored at a royal wedding in 1864. You can make out George I and Duchess of France.

Great pics! Reindeer? Hmm don't know if I'd be brave enough. I love the "royal grafitti" & the castle view. So glad you guys were able to have a great trip!

I bet you didn't drive much. Beautiful pictures! All of the colors make our cities look boring...
