Good Flicks

Going out to dinner and renting a movie is how we typically spend our weekend nights, (plus a little freshly popped popcorn, or an ice cream sundae). Because we're creatures of habit and usually too tired to think of anything else, we rarely stray from this, plus it's nice to just chill at home after a long work week. Because Mike's been in trial prep at the firm, he's been working longer hours than usual, and 7 days a week. So this last weekend, I told him he could choose to do whatever he wanted Friday night. What did he come up with? Cafe Rio and a movie at the theater! Rare. It seems most movies we come across these days are just mediocre, making $10 movie tickets a bit of a risk. This weekend though we came across two great picks!

State of Play

This is the movie we saw in the theater Friday night, and we were not disappointed! Great cast, compelling story, well executed, and entertaining.

Little Dorrit

We've been watching this over 5 weeks as part of PBS's Masterpiece Classic series and it came to an end last night. Mystery, murder, romance, it has it all. An instant favorite - one of the best movies we've seen in a long time. Can't wait to buy it and watch it again.

Have you seen any good movies lately?

We used to do the same thing every weekend, but now we really can't go to the theater very much, so we rent movies from the library. It was a hard transition, but after you are not up to date with the new releases, the library movies seem new! Plus, they are free!
