A very good friend of mine is starting a book club - yay! A good one too, meaning no annoying people, we'll have a dinner during our monthly meeting that matches the theme of the book, and it's not through RS so you don't have to worry about censoring book choices. For our first meeting, she's asked us to bring at least two books to present to the group. So, I've been thinking of what to take. I've read lots of books, many that I love, and many that are favorites. I know that I can't even begin to think of them all; but off the top of my head these are some of my all time favorites. How about you, what are your favorite books of all time?
In no particular order...
Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
Peace Like a River by Leif Enger
The Last Days of Summer by Steve Kluger
Summer of the Monkeys by Wilson Rawls
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

I Know This Much is True
The Glass House
Twilight Series for a fun read
Screwtape Letters
All four books by Dan Brown
The Giver (very close ties to our church!)
Little Women, To Kill a Mockingbird, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, The DaVinci Code (very light and contemporary), Pride and Prejudice, Number the Stars. Definitely DO NOT READ "Wicked" as in the book that inspired the cool musical. Perverse, deviant and weird and very slow. Just don't do it.
I agree with Kimberly on P&P and Little Women and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. Also liked The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns.
Anne of Green Gables and Emily books by L.M. Montgomery. These is my words by nancy Turner and the two other books that follow (I HIGHLY RECCOMMEND!!!!) Christy by Catherine Marshall. I do goodreads. Heard of it? Jeanna does it too - I can invite you. It it shows all your books that you read and your friends too. It is really nice to see what everyone likes and reads.
a few more: memoirs of a geisha, the good earth, and peter pan (the original by james m. barrie)
hmm...it's been a long time since i read a decent book (i read twilight, not that much of a fun)...makes me wish i was a better participant in the book club you did!! i'm such a slacker!
These is my words is not a sad story - it is amazing. I think you will agree! Everyone I have talked to read it and LOVED it. It is based on a true story of Arizona Pionner woman.
