Hot Fudge Pudding Cake

Farleys Famous Hot Fudge Pudding Cake
This is SO good. The recipe comes from old family friends of my parents. We enjoyed it last night with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

1 1/2 C sugar, divided
1 C flour
7 Tbl cocoa, divided
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 C milk
1/3 C butter, melted
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 C brown sugar
1 1/4 C hot water

Heat oven to 350°. In medium mixing bowl combine ¾ C sugar, flour, 3 Tbl cocoa, baking powder and salt. Blend in milk, melted butter, and vanilla; beat until smooth. Pour batter into a greased 8x8x2 square pan. In small bowl, combine remaining ½ C sugar, brown sugar and remaining 4 Tbl cocoa; sprinkle mixture evenly over batter. Pour hot water over top; do not stir. Bake 40 minutes or until center is almost set. Let stand 15 minutes; spoon into dessert dishes, flipping cake upside down and topping with sauce from bottom of pan. Garnish as desired (preferably with ice cream or whipped cream).
